Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner says three of his deputies have graduated from special immigration training. The Beaufort Gazette reports that Tanner told a business group Tuesday that he knows a countywide crackdown on illegal immigration would have a tremendous impact on businesses. Tanner says the county's ongoing audit of business licenses is helping his deputies gather information on the kinds of employees being hired and he says that would guide his decision on who to investigate. Tanner says two more deputies will undergo training at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement academy later this month.
