Grand Strand leaders are preparing to discuss the future of the May motorcycle rallies that bring hundreds of thousands of bikers to the beach every year. Wednesday evening's public meeting at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center is bringing together officials from across the region. The city of Myrtle Beach decided to get rid of the rallies earlier this summer, but so far none of the surrounding governments have followed suit. Around 500,000 bikers come to the beach for two rallies. The Harley-Davidson rally in mid-May attracts mostly white bikers, while the Atlantic Beach Bikefest over Memorial Day weekend caters to black bikers. Up to 3,000 people can attend the meeting. Speakers will get five minutes to talk.
