House to hold 401K hearings

A House panel today looks into how the stock market slide is impacting retirement accounts.
The huge chunk the stock market slide is taking out of retirement accounts has some Americans so depressed they don’t want to even know how far their 401ks have fallen.
Gregory Smith of the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association says working Americans, not Wall Street executives who got bonuses, are the one worrying as the market heads south.
More than half of people surveyed in a recent Associated Press-GfK poll worry that they will have to work longer because the value of their retirement savings has declined.
