Stocks stage late decline

Stocks capped today’s session with another late decline.
Earlier in the day, Citigroup announced plans to cut another 53,000 jobs in coming quarters.
The Dow fell nearly 224 points to 8,273.
The S&P 500 dropped 22 points to 850, while the Nasdaq composite shed nearly 35 points to 1,482.
Declining issues led advancers by a 3 to 1 margin on the New York Stock Exchange.
Volume on the NYSE came to 4.8 billion shares. Nasdaq stock market volume was 1.8 billion shares.
Light, sweet crude for January delivery dropped $2.11 to settle at $55.49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
