Montana middle school teacher Jim Litz has a bear of a story to tell. He hit a black bear earlier this week, while riding his bike to school.
He says he was going too fast to stop and he and the bear went cartwheeling down the road.
The bear rolled over Litz’s head and cracked his helmet.
Litz also has a big scratch on his back.
The bear ran off.
Litz says he was lucky the bear decided to let him live.
He expects to be back in the classroom at the Target Range Middle School in Missoula tomorrow.
Litz says he hopes his story will convince his students to wear their bike helmets, too.
