The latest Bond movie hits theaters this weekend with Daniel Craig once again playing Hollywood’s most famous spy.

Saddled with a clumsy title and with the need to have seen “Casino Royale” right before this one, “Quantum of Solace” is and up and down experience.

It has action aplenty as Bond is out to avenge the death of Vesper, his true love, killed in the earlier film.

But there’s an assignment he must fulfill.

Dame Judi Dench, returning as M, has sent him out to smash an international crime ring intent on controlling the water supply in some third world countries.

That muddled premise is just a setup for some superb action sequences filmed all over the world.

Olga Kurlyenko is the latest Bond girl, but she adds little, and is just an ornament.

“Quantum of Solace” succeeds in that Bond’s life is constantly in danger, but the villain is tepid, the script never grabs you and that Bond music all the world loves isn’t heard until closing credits.

Whose dumb idea was that?

See it, but hope for a better one next time around.
