A search warrant says slain state insurance investigator Sallie Rohrbach discovered before her death that the owner of an Charlotte agency was experiencing serious financial problems after losing a big contract.
The search warrant was released late Thursday. Authorities who have charged agency owner Michael Howell with first-degree murder in Rohrbach's death.
The warrant states Rohrbach found out GMAC Insurance had pulled its operating agreement in March from Howell's Dilworth Insurance Agency for failing to pay customer premiums.
Rohrbach was reviewing the books at Howell's business when she disappeared two weeks ago. Her body was found the day after prosecutors charged the 40-year-old Howell with her death.
