Some motorcycle riders are vowing not to return to Myrtle Beach after protesting a traffic checkpoint set up by police at the latest rally.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that police on Saturday set up a checkpoint on Farrow Parkway on the fourth day of the Pilgrimage, which was scheduled to end on Sunday.

Former Myrtle Beach mayor Mark McBride wore a sandwich board to protest the checkpoint and called for a compromise between bikers and officials.

McBride also said actions such as checkpoints won’t work during May rallies.

One man said his friends in Philadelphia won’t visit Myrtle Beach and won’t spend any money there.

Myrtle Beach is testing new rules designed to reduce the impact of motorcycle rallies that cause huge traffic and noise problems each May.
