News 2 first told you about the “Mugshots” publication in October.
It is a newspaper that features the pictures of wanted criminals in a geographic area. They debuted in Georgetown County earlier this year and have already aided police in making an arrest.
The publishers of the periodically have started their push to move into the Greater Charleston area. They are currently looking for convenience stores to carry the newspapers.
For $1, readers buy the newspaper that features the mugshots of people wanted for crimes ranging from murder to child molestation. While the paper is often an impulse purchase, owners hope people see criminals and lead police to the wanted individuals.
The Charleston edition of “Mugshots” will not become available in local stores until early 2009.
Nationally the publication has lead to more than 200 arrests.
