One man is dead and three others are in custody after a shooting at the 4600 block of Oakwood Ave. in North Charleston.
Police responded to a call at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning and found Thomas Scott Yelton, 41 from North Charleston, dead.
According to initial witness accounts, Yelton was brought to a house in the 4600 block of Oakwood Ave. and forced out of the vehicle he was riding in. The men then shot Yelton. Upon investigation, Yelton’s vehicle was later located at 1302 Bexley. When the police arrived at the house on Bexley, a subject came out of the house and reported that three men had tried to gain access to the house. Two males then exited the house and were detained. A third subject refused to leave the house and SWAT responded, gained entry and apprehended the subject without incident.
The three subjects have been detained and questioned by investigators. At this time, police have no motive for the shooting and the investigation is continuing.
