Police arrest 4 in CSU armed robbery

(North Charleston)  On Monday, November 17, 2008, North Charleston Police made the following arrests in connection with the November 11th armed robbery and kidnapping that took place at Charleston Southern University.

• Zachery Hillery (5/29/1988) of Sanford, Florida
• Samual Baptiste (10/24/1988) of Naples, Florida
• Tyrone Lattimore (11/25/1988 of Apple Heights, Ohio
• Ronald Jay Baldner (10/15/1989) of Homosassa, Florida

All four suspects have a local address of 9200 University Blvd.

All four suspects are charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Doug Dickerson, Director of Public Relations at CSU stated, “Since the events of November 11th unfolded, the University has cooperated fully with the investigation by the North Charleston Police department.  The four student-athletes arrested had been affiliated with the football program but at the time of this incident only one student was an active member of the team.  The University has suspended these students indefinitely pending the outcome of the judicial process.“
Head football coach Jay Mills, said, “We are disappointed to hear of the charges brought against these young men.  Our athletics program at CSU continues its commitment to the academic, athletic, spiritual and character development of our student athletes.”
“We regret that these individuals chose a path not representative of the Christian

values at the University.  Despite this unfortunate revelation, Charleston Southern

remains firmly committed to its mission of Promoting Academic Excellence in a

Christian Environment,” said Dr. Jairy C. Hunter, Jr., President of CSU.
