U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will speak at the Charleston NAACP’s annual Freedom Fund Banquet, which has been rescheduled.
Charleston NAACP announced Friday that the event was moved back from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18.
The group wanted to have Michelle Obama speak at the event, but the Obama campaign said Friday she could not attend because of scheduling conflicts.
Spokeswoman Katie McCormick Lelyveld says Jackson is national co-chair of Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign and will represent the campaign at the banquet.
