Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed while giving a speech at a Washington hotel.

The 67-year-old was about 15 to 20 minutes into his speech at a Federalist Society dinner when he began slurring his words—and then began to fall.

Three people grabbed him and laid him on the ground behind the podium.

He was then rushed to George Washington Medical Center.

A Justice Department spokesman says Mukasey was breathing when he was taken to the hospital.

He reportedly in good spirits, but his condition is not known.

67-year-old Mukasey was nominated to be attorney general by President Bush in September 2007, and was confirmed by the Senate in November 2007.
