High temperatures will be right around normal today with most of us reaching the middle 50s to around 60 by late this afternoon.  Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected today, but clouds will begin to increase tonight and on Tuesday out ahead of our next cold front.  A coastal storm is expected to develop in response to this front, and rain will become likely tonight with the threat of rain continuing into Tuesday.  Overnight lows will be in the middle 40s with highs tomorrow in the lower 50s.

The possibility of upcoming cold weather will likely come in a one-two punch.  The first shot of cold air is expected to arrive on Wednesday behind Tuesday’s front with high temperatures struggling to reach the 50 degree mark on Wednesday afternoon.  Another front will approach on Thursday, and this one appears to be the “Big Daddy” front I referred to last week.  Highs on Thursday will likely be in the lower 50s and then fall sharply as the front moves through.

Thermometers will likely start the day on Friday near 20 away from the beaches, with upper 20s possible all the way to the sea islands.  Under full sunshine, the Arctic air mass will likely only allow temperatures to climb to near 40 degrees at best on Friday with another frigid night expected Friday night.  This could be the coldest night we have seen in several years.  If current guidance verifies lows in the teens are possible by Saturday morning.  Temperatures will begin a slow moderating trend into the next weekend, but temperatures will only recover in the middle 40s to lower 50s by Sunday.
