Shawn Cabbagestalk is currently a digital content producer at WCBD-TV.
Shawn majored in Broadcast Journalism and Sociology at the University of South Carolina. During his time at USC, Shawn worked as a master control operator at WBHQ-TV, the former WB television station in the Columbia area.
After leaving television for a short time, Shawn started working at News 2 as a production technician. He later became a photojournalist, a producer, an assignment editor, and now a digital content producer.
As a photojournalist, Shawn received a South Carolina Broadcasters Association scholarship to attended a week long seminar for television reporters at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St Petersburg, Florida. He was the only photographer in a room of reporters/anchors from newsrooms worldwide learning better storytelling techniques and how to expand viewer reach with emerging technology.
Being diverse, Shawn has print and multimedia skills as well after serving as a freelance web editor at his hometown newspaper, The Manning Times.
Shawn also had the opportunity to work in radio at WXST, Star 99.7. It was there where he learned the inner workings of the radio business after training with one of the most identifiable voices in the urban adult contemporary genre in Charleston.
