Adam Gorlitsky defies all odds as a walking, basketball-shooting paraplegic

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - A former Wando student is defying all odds despite being paralyzed from the waist down.

After injuring his spine in a car accident, doctors told Adam Gorlitsky he would never walk again but thanks to some cutting edge technology, Gorlitsky walked across the Wando High School basketball court and even made three baskets.

"I wanted to come out here, obviously to raise awareness but selfishly I wanted to show them that I still got it," Gorlitsky told News 2.

Adam is the first recipient of the exo-skeleton, a device that helps him walk, and he's making the most of his new found feet. He plans on walking in the Cooper River Bridge Run.

"Training has been going good. I've been putting in the miles, as you can see out there, still a few kinks to work out."

Gorlitsky says after walking the 10K in April, he plans on participating in other races.
