No credible threat at James Island Charter High School

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) - There is an increase police presence at James Island Charter High School following a threat.

"At this time, there are no credible threats based on the information we currently have," according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis. "It appears this stems from social media rumors being shared in the community," Francis added.

Sources tell News 2 that the social media rumor stems from a post on Snap Chat saying an incident would happen at the school at 12 noon.

A James Island Charter High School parent confirmed to News 2 that there is an increased police presence.  She says"there will be random wanding of students starting Monday."

We're told attendance was "definitely impacted."

In addition to police increasing their presence at the school, they will also be in the area as a "response to community concerns," Francis said.
