RESTAURANT REPORT CARD: 1 C, multiple B-grades throughout Charleston County

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) -- Inspectors with the Department of Health and Environmental Control visit restaurants each week to assign a health grade.

This week, Circle K on Long Grove Drive in Mount Pleasant received a C-grade after the DHEC inspector found the walk in cooler was not keeping foods cold enough.

Stacks Costal Kitchen in Mount Pleasant received a B-grade on May 1.

Some of the violations include:

-Hand sinks did not meet the required 100 degrees

-Some of the cold foods for retail were kept too warm

-The facility was pickling vegetables without an approved process

-Some foods were requested to be voluntarily discarded, but were not

-A follow-up inspection should happen by May 11.

The Noisy Oyster on Market Street downtown received a B-grade for roaches observed throughout the kitchen.  Also, fryers, shelving and coolers were had grease and dirt build up. Plus, the parts of the floor had standing water and old food build up.

A follow up inspection is scheduled for before May 10.

Betty’s Eatery in Mount Pleasant received a B-grade May 2.

Some of those violations include sandwiches being made with are hands, cold foods kept too warm, and cloths were not sanitized in bucket between uses.

A follow-up inspection should happen before May 4.

UPDATES: JD’s Market now has an A-grade after last week receiving a C-grade.

La Tabella in Charleston now has an A-grade after previously receiving a  B.

Great Wall in Mount Pleasant now has an A-grade after receiving 2 consecutive C-grades.
