RESTAURANT REPORT CARD: 3 'B' grades during week of March 7-14

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) --  Department of Health and Environmental Control inspectors gave out more than 100 A grades to Charleston County restaurants from March 7 - March 14. They also gave 3 B grades. 

Graze in Mount Pleasant received a B grade March 14 during a routine inspection.

According to the report, the DHEC inspector witnessed a food handler place food in his or her mouth, then continue working without washing hands.

The report says a food handler also touched meat with bare hands while plating food.

The inspector also noted some structural issues with the restaurant. Both exit doors were not tight fitting. Rodent droppings and flies were seen in storage room.

The inspector noted throughout the kitchen, the baseboards were in poor repair and had dark build up. There were also holes in the walls and ceiling tiles.

A follow-up inspection should be performed by March 23.

Another Broken Egg Café in Mount Pleasant had a routine inspection March 1 and scored and A grade. However, in a follow-up inspection on March 9, the restaurant scored a B grade.

Some of the violations include a food handler wearing dirty apron and pants. He or she then was observed touching the dirty clothes before handling food without changing gloves.

Also, the dishwashing equipment did not meet the right temperature.

A follow up inspection is expected by March 19.

Hello Deli North Charleston received a B on March 9.

The inspector observed bare hand contact with ready to eat food as it was being prepared for serving. The inspector also noted cold foods were stored too warm

A follow up inspection should happen by March 19.

UPDATE FROM LAST WEEK: Southern Roots in North Charleston now has an A after a follow-up inspection March 14.
