Dorchester county to host open house on county's comprehensive plan

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Dorchester County Planning & Zoning Department will host the third set of open house meetings to receive input on the County’s Comprehensive Plan on March 13th – 15th.

The Comprehensive Plan is a state mandated document that serves as a guide for decision making to help the County reach its preferred future goals.  Community involvement is a vital step in crafting a document that reflects the needs and desires of the community.

Open House Meetings are the perfect opportunity for Dorchester County citizens and business owners to have a direct say in what Dorchester County looks like in the future. Next week’s meetings are the third set of meetings in a four-meeting series. These meetings will focus on land use and transportation.

Kiera Reinertsen, Director of Planning & Zoning for Dorchester County said “land use and transportation are key components the Comprehensive Plan and it is vital that we hear from as much of the community as possible.  Future development policies will be based on the input received at these meeting and to accurately reflect the desires of the community, your voice needs to be heard.  Growth is coming – this is our chance to do it right.”
