Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County launches inaugural ‘Voice of Women' project

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) - "Habitat for Humanity homeowner Linda Lewis with other community leaders have organized a "Christmas of Hope" at the newly built Community's Hope IMPACT Center. This community event will be an outdoor fellowship for the community residents to create social bonding, unity and relationships of trust amongst the community. The event will take place in partnership with Grace Reformed Episcopal Church.

"We are proud of Linda Lewis and the work she has done to organize this event with other strong female leaders in the community," said Alexandra Dixon, Marketing & Development Coordinator. "This is our first Voice of Women project in the Wall Street Neighborhood and we're excited to see how the neighborhood will benefit for years to come."

The event is HFHBC's first project as part of the Voice of Women initiative, which empowers Habitat homeowners to be leaders in their communities through service projects including community clean-ups, developing safe routes to school, development of parks, or organizing local job and health fairs. Homeowners plan the event and fundraise to support it with the assistance of Habitat. The initiative is an extension of Habitat for Humanity International's Women Build program, which since 1991 has created opportunities for women to serve their communities.

Community members who wish to participate in the service event should contact 843-203-3749.
