Multiple agencies investigating fatal crash involving stolen pickup truck

UPDATE- Authorities have identified the man who was killed during the crash as 45-year-old William Alexander Sigman.

He was travelling East on Dorchester Road at the intersection of 17-A when a vehicle hit his wife's pickup truck on the driver rear side.

Sigman was driving behind her and was hit head on, as was a vehicle behind him.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:30 this morning caused by massive head and body trauma.

The incident is being investigated by SC Highway Patrol.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) -- The Summerville Police Department is investigating a burglary that ended in a deadly vehicle crash on Thursday.

According to Summerville Police, it happened on Black Oak Blvd. in the Gahagan subdivision.

During the burglary, the victim's Ford truck was stolen by Justen Lee Wilkes, 21. Soon after, the suspect was involved in a collision on Highway 17-A, which resulted in the death of a person in the other vehicle involved.

After the collision, police say Wilkes fled the scene, but was later found and arrested.

Multiple agencies are involved in this investigation. The Summerville Police Department is charging the suspect with burglary first degree.

The bond hearing is pending at this time.
