Traffic stop leads to Berkeley County man's arrest over loaded guns

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - An Orangeburg County man is facing charges after two loaded guns were found in his vehicle, following a traffic stop. 

Dexter Valentino Bailey, Jr,21, was arrested and charged on Saturday, May 12.

Authorities patrolling near College Park Road and I-26 noticed a black Chrysler 300 failing to maintain its lane. Following a traffic stop, authorities say, the odor of marijuana started coming from the vehicle. "The driver was in possession of a blunt-type cigar that is typically used to smoke marijuana," according to a Facebook post from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Police later found two guns under the passenger's seat.  Bailey, the passenger, he did not have a concealed weapons permit, officials said. 

A black Ruger 9mm and a silver and black Smith & Wesson 9mm were found. Both guns were loaded, authorities added.  



Bailey was and transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
