Man charged with driving into deputy's car while drunk

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Hartsville man is accused of being drunk when he drove into the back of a Darlington County sheriff's vehicle.

Local media outlets report that 45-year-old Keith Vinson is charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, child endangerment and open container.

According to the Highway Patrol, Vinson's sport utility vehicle plowed into the back of a deputy's vehicle about 10 p.m. Thursday on East Billy Farrow Highway.

Lance Cpl. Judd Jones says the deputy was trying to turn left. Jones says Vinson was not injured.

Authorities say the deputy was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
