5 Colorado Republicans fight to take on Democrat Bennet

James Anderson, AP - DENVER (AP) - Colorado Republicans long have relished the chance to unseat Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, having unseated fellow Democrat Mark Udall just two years ago.

On Tuesday, they're holding a five-way primary to choose who will challenge Bennet.

None of the contenders has held statewide office before.

And Bennet, who's unopposed in his party, has a substantial campaign war chest.

Still, many voters in this independent-minded state are upset about Bennet's support for President Barack Obama's Iran nuclear deal, health care overhaul and plans to close Guantanamo Bay. Colorado has been mentioned as a possible destination for the detention center's terrorists.
