SUMTER, S.C. (WCBD) — A Sumter man is in police custody after authorities found three pit bull dogs with their ears cut off.
Jamie Shaw, 36, of Sumter, is charged with three counts of ill treatment of animals. He's currently being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
Sumter Police say several kennels were found on the property as well as animal remains. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of death of the animals.
One adult pit bull was found alive and taken to the Sumter County Animal Shelter.
Shaw was arrested on Friday, November 18.
