May 14, 2018 - The Hanahan Hawkettes took game one in the 3A softball state championship over Palmetto 2-1.
Hanahan jumped out to a nice 2-0 lead right away, and held Palmetto scoreless until the 5th inning.
Palmetto put one run on the board making them only the second team to score on Hanahan all season.
The Hawkettes were too strong defensively though. They won game one and are looking ahead to game two on the road at Palmetto High.
It was another tight game for Hanahan, but after Friday night's walk-off win, they were prepared.
Head coach Katrina Moffett said, "The tight game last Friday was really good for us because we hadn't been challenged like that. We hadn't had anyone score on us, so just facing that adversity and having them come out today with confidence. They came out with a lot of confidence today which was really good for them."
Game two is Wednesday night weather permitting.
