Lowcountry sky watchers are eyeing Comet Pan-STARRS

Posted: Updated:

Sky watchers across the Lowcountry are eyeing Comet Pan-STARRS.  The comet will appear in the western sky after sunset through much of March.  This weekend into early next week it will be at its highest point above the horizon near the constellation Andromeda.

Pan-STARRS is best viewed with binoculars shortly after sunset.  Look below and to the right of the crescent moon.

Special thanks to News 2 viewer Tony Steverson for the picture of Pan-STARRS as seen from Summerville.
