CCAA votes to sell land to Boeing for $12.5m

Posted: Updated:

The Charleston County Aviation Authority voted Thursday morning to sell land to Boeing for $12.5 million.

During the meeting Friday, there was much disagreement about whether or not to sell the land. Some Aviation Authority board members wanted to wait to agree to the sale, pending recent appraisals.

Former Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Lawrence E. Richter, Jr. threatened to walk out of the meeting if the board did not research the appraisals. The board denied the request to adjourn the meeting by a majority vote.

There was no discussion during the meeting about what the land will be used for, but several members said the sale will be good for the economy and jobs in Charleston.
