Preparations underway for 41st Flowertown Festival in Summerville

Posted: Updated:

Preparations are now underway for the 41st Flowertown Festival. The festival is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Summerville Family YMCA.

A quarter of a million people are expected to take part in the festivities. You could see ride and food carts already on festival grounds Tuesday morning. SCE& G crews spent part of the day working on the additional electricity requirements of the festival.

Kim Taylor is the Operations Officer for the Summerville Y. However, during the Flowertown Festival, she handles all Arts and Crafts vendors. She was out marking vendor space and helping inquisitive tourists learn more about the festival.

She says there are some new things to look forward to this year, "We're actually including the farmer's market, our dream will be here on Friday, and then on Sunday we're having a sweet tea tasting with our local restaurant association."

The festival takes place Friday-Sunday. You can learn more about the festival at www.flowertownfestival.org.
