CHARLESTON, SC -

The Republican nominee for South Carolina's First Congressional District has been ordered to appear in court for trespassing on his former wife's property.   Jenny Sanford confirms with News 2 that Mark Sanford, was in her home without her permission on February 3.

Wednesday, Mark Sanford released a statement that said he was watching the Super Bowl with one of his sons.  He says he repeatedly tried to reach Jenny Sanford by phone to tell her but was not able to reach her.

Under the terms of their 2010 divorce, neither party can enter the other's home without permission.

Mark Sanford has been ordered to appear in court on May 9, which is 2 days after the election for the First Congressional District.
