St. John Catholic School offers a quaint family environment for students. We're in North Charleston for our Cool School of the week.

Saint John Catholic School is a K-4 through 8th grade private school, with a family friendly atmosphere. Happy the dog is on the job. He's the school's mascot and body guard, and loved by all. The Circle of Peace promotes positive behavior. The program emphasizes respect for self and others. The children take a peace pledge. Hand prints on the wall are the signatures committing each child to this pledge.

Principal Carol White says, "We're a cool school first of all because our children are cool, and I think we're cool again because of the size and the individual attention that we can give. We're cool because of our teachers also. We have wonderful teachers who are very dedicated." 8th grader student Nolan Stone says, "It's not like everyone is just a whole bunch of people stuck together in one class. Everybody is unique and individual and beautiful in their own way." Third grade student Otto Johannsen says, "Everybody knows you as soon as you come in. It feels like a family because we have really close friends here." Teacher Sarah Jones says, "I love this school. It's such a community. When you walk in the door you can feel how everyone is just a family. The students are so respectful. It's small that we can do individualized work and really accommodate for all special needs that we have."

St. John Catholic School has a lego league and archery class. The school is proud of it's community support initiatives. They have a food pantry, and students help serve food at nursing homes. Also, the children have adopted a child in Guatemala.
