Last weekend on the campaign trail

Posted: Updated:

The special election is Tuesday May 7 and the two candidates for the first congressional district are out in full force this weekend.

Republican candidate Mark Sanford was in Summerville Saturday speaking with voters. While at the event, he received an official endorsement from the Tea Party Express.  This comes in addition to a week of endorsements for the former governor, including senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott.

Saturday Elizabeth Colbert-Busch was also out at farmer's markets in Charleston and Summerville. Sunday she plans to visit MUSC at 2 p.m. and plans to be knocking on doors in downtown to get out the vote.

News 2's coverage of the special election begins Tuesday on News 2 Today starting at 5 a.m.
