Home invasion in Ladson leaves two men shot

Posted: Updated:

Around 11:46 Friday night the Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrived at a house on Kirkwell Drive.

Deputies say a woman, her boyfriend and the homeowner were in the house when two unknown males allegedly forced into the home through the garage door.

The woman told deputies that gun shots were fired between the homeowner and two suspects.

During the exchange, her boyfriend and the homeowner were shot.

Deputies say weapons were recovered at the scene and are being processed by the forensic unit.

Neighbor Clark Burnside says the victim knocked on his door for help.

"So I jumped up and went outside with my brother and there was a male outside that was shot in the upper abdomen, looks like he had a bullet wound in through his abdomen and out through his back and I'm actually a PA so I was trying to evaluate him medically, make sure he was stable, make sure he was breathing well and didn't have a lot of external bleeding," Burnside said. "We didn't know what was going on, we didn't know who had shot him, if someone was still after him so it was kind of scary and I have 5 kids too and all five of my kids were upstairs."

Both suspects fled the scene and both victims were transported to MUSC.

Multiple people at the scene stopped News 2 claiming to be friends of the homeowner but claimed they did not know the victim's name.

As of this morning officials could not say the condition of the two victims, all they could disclose is that this investigation is ongoing.
