Man in sinking boat swims to shore where police arrest him

Posted: Updated:

According to Charleston Police, early Wednesday morning they were called near the Yacht Club on East Bay Street in reference to a man vandalizing cars.

Police say the man, Bryan White, kicked the side mirrors off three cars. When he returned to his boat to leave the area, the boat started sinking and capsized. The man swam back to shore where police arrested him for vandalism.

Police charged White with "property crime enhancement" which they say means he damaged more than one piece of property.

He is in jail, and police expect him to face a bond court judge later Wednesday morning.
