Parts of Orangeburg and Dorchester counties experiencing power outages

Portions of Orangeburg and Dorchester Counties are experiencing power outages after a severe storm produced high winds Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with Edisto Electric Cooperative tell News 2 they are actively working to restore power in Dorchester County after a tree fell on a power line on Highway 178.

Officials say power outages in both Orangeburg and Dorchester counties began around 3:00 p.m. They expect power to be fully restored within a couple of hours.

According to the National Weather Service a shed sustained damage, vinyl was blown off of a home, and trees were snapped along Highway 15 between I-26 and US 178.  There are also reports of a fallen tree on I-26 near MM 172.

She is speaking out in support of a push for more legislation that will protect women that find themselves in her same shoes. Christy Coleman survived a brutal attack and build up the courage to testify against her attacker in court. Her abuser was sentenced to three years in prison this week.
