Cool Camp: Iron Chefs

Posted: Updated:

Summer break is here and summer camps are underway. We are highlighting Lowcountry camps this summer.  We head downtown for our first Cool Camp.

The Iron Chefs camp is one of 13 camps at the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry in Downtown Charleston this summer. Every week is a new theme for campers. Children age three to ten enjoy play time in the museum, fun activities and crafts pertaining to the week's theme. The museum offers curriculum based educational activities, including Camp Sensational Science and Camp Let's Move, based on First Lady Michelle Obama's national program. McCown Bridges, marketing coordinator for the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry says during the Iron Chefs Camp, children learn about the nutritional value of food to make healthy choices. She says, "We just have lots of different things going on every week. Every week is a different theme, something fun for every one all the time."

Coming up Wednesday on News 2 today, we'll here from our young master chefs.

The camps at the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry run until August 16th, and are sponsored by Piggly Wiggly. For more information about camps at the museum, click here: http://explorecml.org/cml/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16&Itemid=124

Do you have a Cool Camp you want to spread the word about? We are highlighting camps that promote continued education, mentoring, health and fitness, and creativity, send an email to Octavia at omitchell@wcbd.com, and your summer camp may be featured on News 2.

(WCBD) More evidence has surfaced that lead experts to believe that the Gaboon Viper is still on the loose in Harbor Pointe Apartments. What is now only pieces of the snake's skin was approximately 95% of the shed skin when it was found, only missing part of the head.
