FOLLY BEACH, SC -

This weekend, Folly Beach Public Safety launches a summer long series of events for teens on the island and surrounding area.

Organizers say it's a chance for public safety officials to connect with island residents and beach goers.

This first free event takes place on the beach front at the Folly Beach County Fishing Pier where firefighters and police will host beach games.

Events run from 7pm until 9pm.

Kids 10 to 17 years old are invited for volleyball, shelling, corn hole and other games.

Organizers ask parents to stick around since kids will be allowed to come and go on their own. Refreshments will be provided.

The next event is June 29 at Pirate Cove Park. It will be a sport-theme gathering with tennis, skateboarding and basketball.

Other events are being planned for July 13, July 27, August 10 and August 24.

The hole is 30 feet deep and 40 feet wide and city officials have deemed the home unsafe. Now, the homeowner is forced to pack her stuff and leave just 18 months after moving in. Officials haven't determined the exact cause for the sink hole but a private contractor suspects heavy rain over the weekend may have played a role.
