On Father's Day Sunday, people from across the Lowcountry headed out early to James Island County Park to compete in the second race of the 23rd Annual Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series.

The series is made of five different races start on May 19 and ending August 11 with the Championship race. Participants can do just one race or they can sign up for more than one. Each race consists of a 600 yard open water swim in the lake at James Island County Park, a 12 mile bike ride and a flat road 5k to end it.

The races begin at 7:15 AM and have a staggered start. Awards are giving out across three different age groups, three divisions and the overall race. The final three races are July 7, July 28 and August 11. You can sign up on the Charleston County Parks and Recreation website.
