Police ticket driver after trailer causes three car accident on I-26

A truck attempted to swerve and miss the trailer overturning and catching on fire.  The driver was able to escape without injury. A truck attempted to swerve and miss the trailer overturning and catching on fire. The driver was able to escape without injury.

A three car accident snarled I-26 westbound Monday afternoon when a trailer became un-hitched in heavy traffic.

According to police Robert Thomas was driving his pick-up when the trailer he was pulling became un-hitched and the safety chains failed.  The trailer hit an SUV then slammed into the concrete median and traveled back across the interstate. 

A truck attempted to swerve and miss the trailer overturning and catching on fire.  The driver was able to escape without injury. 

There were no injuries reported in the wreck. 

Thomas was cited for a towing violation
