Benefit ride for victims of domestic violence

Posted: Updated:

Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. the Lowcountry Harley Davidson on Dorchester Road has a motorcycle benefit ride to raise money for My Sisters House, an organization which works to serve and empower victims of domestic violence in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.

The ride is $15 per motorcycle plus $10 per passenger.

According to the organization, in 2011, South Carolina ranked second in the nation with the highest homicide rate for female victims by male offenders. South Carolina's rate for this type of homicide is more than twice the national average.

The previous year, there were over 48,000 victims of domestic violence in South Carolina.

Sunday's proceeds from the ride will be donated to My Sisters House, Inc. There will be live music, raffles, 50/50, silent auction, bike wash, and bike show.

The ride ends about 5:30 p.m. at Main Street Bar and Grill where there will be a free BBQ buffet from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m..
