Two dead in early morning accident in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC -

Two people are dead after an early morning accident in Georgetown County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the car was turning off of Dunbar Road around 12:05 a.m. when it hit a ditch and overturned multiple times.

Deputies say the driver was ejected from the car. That driver was airlifted to an area hospital where he later died. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The passenger was trapped inside of the car, according to Deputies. The passenger was airlifted to MUSC and later died. The passenger was also not wearing a seatbelt.

The Georgetown County Coroner has not released the names of the victims at this time.

Deputies are still investigating the accident.
