It's an event that some say is a can't miss for the weekend leading up to the Fourth of July. It's the 64th Annual Sullivan's Island Fire and Rescue Fish Fry.
The event started in 1949 as a fundraiser for a sister of one of the firefighters. The event has now turned into a fundraiser for the Fire and Rescue.
Chief Anthony Stith says the city of Sullivan's Island funds the firefighting side of the department but when it comes to water rescues, the have to get the money elsewhere. The fish fry along with the department's annual oyster roast are the two big fundraisers.
The fish fry will be held under the "Big Tin" located on Middle Street at Station 15. The event goes from 5 PM to 8 PM. Plates are $5 a piece and the band Fowler's Moustache will be performing.
