College of Charleston officially joins CAA

CHARLESTON, SC -

The College of Charleston officially is part the Colonial Athletic Association after 15 years in the Southern Conference.
    
The school accepted membership last November and agreed to move into the league after completing this academic season. The CAA has nine full-time members this year in UNC Wilmington, William & Mary, James Madison, Towson, Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra and Northeastern along with the Cougars.
    
Elon is expected to join the league for the 2014-15 season.
    
College of Charleston men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik was part of the CAA as a player and assistant coach at Navy. He said he's excited at his current school returning to his former conference.
