DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC -

Authorities apprehended two male suspects in Monday's SunTrust bank robbery just before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.  Police arrested both suspects on Campbell Road in Ridegville.

Early Tuesday morning a Dorchester Deputy received a call about two black males hanging around outside of a house in the area authorities had been searching.  When police arrived the two bank robbery suspects were sitting on the porch.  They were taken into custody without incident.

Police retrieved the money stolen from the bank and found evidence the suspects slept under the porch Monday night.

According to a spokesman with the North Charleston Police Department, two suspects entered the bank and demanded money, just before 5:30 p.m. Monday.  The suspects then ran from the bank with an undetermined amount of money to a waiting vehicle with a male driver inside. The driver failed to stop and eluded police.

During the pursuit, the driver stopped the car and bailed out of the vehicle. There is no word at this time on the location or condition of that driver.

The passenger then got behind the wheel and continued running from police with the third suspect in the car as well.

The pursuit ended on Hwy 61 North near Campbell road when the driver collided with another vehicle.

According to Captain Ben Waring with Dorchester County Fire and Rescue, two people were injured in that accident. A woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital, and a man was transported by EMS with life threatening injuries.

Jacob Morris lives less than a mile from the scene where authorities searched for the two suspects. He said he is not used to seeing this rural area blanketed with blue lights.

He had just gotten home when authorities warned him of the search.

"The cops came up here and told us we were on lock down and there's a fugitive on the run and it kind of got us feared," he said. "I was scared for my mom and family and we got the guns loaded and sat there and didn't go to the door. We were scared."

Authorities are only letting people who live on Campbell Road to pass the scene. Authorities used search dogs, helicopters and stationed manpower throughout the area to try and find the suspects who are described as two black men wearing all black.

Morris said this area of Dorchester County is one that doesn't deal with these types of scenarios.

"As for out here in the country, you aren't supposed to have that, Morris said. "It's laid back. It put us on alert really quick. I was going to go to the gym and work out, but I just stopped all of that. I got the guns and told the family to be on alert."

Sam Richardson with the Dorchester County Sheriffs Office said authorities searched the scene throughout Monday night.
