Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on this 4th of July.

Graham posted photos from his visit on his Facebook page early this morning.

"It is a great privilege and honor to be with our troops in Afghanistan on the Fourth of July. Seeing these brave men and women in a combat zone reenlist and continue their service to our nation is a special privilege. As we celebrate July 4th, please keep these brave Americans in your prayers. They have fought long and hard to protect and defend the freedoms we all hold dear", said Graham in a post on Facebook.

Graham is accompanying Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) who presided over a reenlistment ceremony for about a half dozen U.S. soldiers in Kabul.

McCain told reporters after the ceremony that even though Afghan President Hamid Karzai has temporarily suspended talks between the U.S. and Afghanistan over what presence the U.S. and other nations will keep in the country after 2014, he was hopeful that it will be "agreed upon as soon as possible."

McCain says "the strategic partnership is very important."
