Driver charged with DUI after collision involving police officer

Posted: Updated:

A Berkeley County Sheriff's Officer was taken to a local hospital following a late night collision in Summerville.

According to the officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, just before 11PM Wednesday evening, a Berkeley County Sheriff's Officer was traveling south on Myers Road near the Moonshine Saloon when another driver, 38-year-old Christopher Calvin, was pulling out of a private driveway.  This caused the officer to crash into the truck driven by Calvin.

Highway Patrol says Calvin was charged with DUI and both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Neither Calvin nor the officer were hurt in the incident.
