SANFORD, FLORIDA -

A jury has found George Zimmerman not guilty in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. He claims he shot the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense.

Following the shooting, Zimmerman told police that Martin had attacked him, and that he shot in self-defense. 

The jurors notified the judge Saturday night a little before 10 p.m. that they had reached a decision. It will be announced shortly.

The six-member, all-woman jury began deliberating at 2:30 p.m. Friday after spending part of the day listening to the defense closing arguments and a rebuttal from the prosecution.
