Dorian is a little weaker, future still uncertain

Posted: Updated:
MIAMI, FL -

Tropical Storm Dorian now has maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH as it moves WNW at around 20 MPH.

"Dorian looks disorganized this morning on satellite as the dry air we talked about yesterday is starting to take its toll" said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers.

Dorian will be impacted by dry air for at least another 24 hours which could further weaken the storm or possibly even destroy its inner core.

"We will have to see if Dorian can survive the trip through the dry air," added Marthers. "At this point we aren't sure the circulation will hold together, but if it does, the entire eastern seaboard of the United States and the Gulf coast will need to closely monitor its progress."

The latest forecasts indicate the center of Dorian, if the storm survives the dry air, will be near the Bahamas by the early to middle part of next week.
