CHARLESTON, SC -

Alcohol was involved in a single car accident that left the car hanging over the edge of the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston Police say.

The accident happened Tuesday night. A witness says that the driver, Julia Johnson, was speeding right before she crashed.

The responding officer noticed that Johnson's eyes were bloodshot and that she smelled like alcohol. She had a BAC of .19 percent, more than twice the legal driving limit.

Johnson was arrested for driving under the influence and driving too fast for conditions.

According to Charleston Police, Johnson was exiting the bridge towards the Crosstown when she hit a retaining wall.  The car was lifted up, and the rear tires hung over the railing.

No one was injured in the accident.

Johnson was booked at the Charleston County Detention Center.
